Get on Board – National Launch of Major Initiative Provides Triple-Win Opportunity

Corporate sustainability hinges on a triple bottom line: solutions that are good for the planet, good for people, and good for the organization’s financial bottom line. Triple wins aren’t so easily come by but they’re well worth the effort. If you’ve already acknowledged the value of win-win, then the value of win-win-winning ought to get your attention. Here’s what’s on the table.

In an unprecedented $4 billion private/public sector collaboration, the FCC in collaboration with private sector companies and non-profit organizations launched a national initiative to narrow the digital divide – the gap between the digital haves and have-nots that’s keeping 100 million Americans from actively participating in today’s digital society. Cut off from employment opportunities, education and services, those on the wrong side of the divide are being left further and further behind.

To address this serious need, the Connect2Compete (C2C) program provides low-cost refurbished computers, fresh software and affordable high-speed Internet access to families that already qualify for the national school lunch program. In order to provide these computers, C2C needs help and that’s where the opportunity for organizations to triple-win lies.

The FCC will formally kickoff a nation-wide computer donation program tomorrow (8/7/12) at 11am Eastern. Watch it live at www.fcc.gov/live and then take the pledge. Redemtech, a founding member of the C2C collaboration, will be recognized for making the first donation to kick-start the program, donating computers to support the C2C partners who are providing digital literacy training for C2C families.

Here’s the triple win: Clearly families (people) will benefit from the C2C program. The planet wins by giving computers a longer, more useful live. And corporations win through tax credits for charitable donations, through enhanced brand for community involvement, through better employee attraction and retention through corporate social responsibility, just for starters. Maybe it’s a quintuple win, but who’s counting? Our bottom line is, we’re counting on you. Tune in tomorrow and get involved. We’ll all win.
