Talkin’ Trash in NYC – What Sustainability Folks Ought to Know About Electronics
Electronics – Can’t live without ‘em. Best not toss ‘em in the trash. But the story doesn’t end there. Growing awareness around e-waste is pricking the conscience of the conscientious, but “convenience” is still the mantra of the many – so says new research from Carlson MBA students.
On Wednesday evening, May 23rd, I’ll be joining New York City’s Business SMART networking group for sustainability-minded professionals to dish the dirt on our ubiquitous addiction. I’m not suggesting anyone go into electronics withdrawal, but I’m guessing you don’t know most of what I have to say. (OK, if you’re a regular reader of my rants, you already know a great deal). In my experience, deeper understanding is a better motivator for changing one’s behaviors than simplistic injunctions.
So please, come join the discussion and bring a less-informed friend. The event’s in Manhattan from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. To register for the (free) event, send a note to events@nycbsmart.com and include the phrase “invited by Carol,” and NYC’s Business SMART will get you the meeting details. I look forward to seeing you there!
