Some New Year’s Resolutions

As we begin a new year, one which bears some early promise of being considerably better than its predecessor, I have a few resolutions which I hope my colleagues in the IT Asset Management (ITAM) sector might consider. Here are a few important items that I plan on helping all my clients with:

Resolved: That in 2010, I will leave behind the inefficiencies and lack of standardized controls that have plagued my organization in the past.

Resolved: That this year, I will improve measurement of my processes, thus improving the overall performance.

Resolved: That I will spend much of this coming year searching for and eliminating those parts of the asset-management process that add costs but which don’t ultimately improve the bottom line of my organization.

Resolved: That I will begin taking a look at the overall procurement process with an eye to the entire lifecycle of the equipment.

Finally, I resolve that if I notice any backsliding on any of these important initiatives by my clients, I’ll call them out on it, gently of course, and urge them to do better.

But enough about my client resolutions for 2010. What do you think about my client resolutions?
