Knowledge is Power - Redemtech Regulatory Database Provides Details of Laws from Around the Globe
Whether it’s the most recent debate over a new law regulating the management of e-waste or regulations that advance data security compliance, Redemtech strives to gather the latest information about regulatory change and share it with people in-the-know. Three years ago, Redemtech established a regulatory database that continues to cover the issues related to our work as a Technology Change Management company. These include topics that run the gamut for IT asset management, including data security laws, e-waste recycling laws and pertinent aspects to Sarbanes-Oxley governance.
During that same period, Redemtech has produced a bi-monthly news editiongeared toward regulatory compliance. In these news editions, new IT asset management laws and changes in regulations are regularly plucked from industry and mainstream news media outlets and presented along with their resources for readers to gain a better understanding of important issues.
These developments then are transferred to our regulatory database so that visitors have at their disposal the latest changes to the laws and regulations that affect their organization, whether it is a financial institution, a healthcare provider, a manufacturing company or an academic institution. Different rules apply to different industries and the Redemtech regulatory database and other communications conduits aim to provide background information for all.
A detailed round-up of all of the legal wrangling on industry issues and new laws that were passed in 2009, for example, is available at the Redemtech blog. This chronological wrap-up is merely another service Redemtech provides to our customers to help them stay informed.
While most Redemtech customers and others in our industry are aware of the news editions and the Redemtech blog, some people may not even be aware that Redemtech maintains a regulatory database on its website that lists and describes all of our industry’s pertinent laws and regulations. Actually, there are three databases covering Data Privacy, Security Breach and Identity Theft Regulations; Electronics Disposal and Hazardous Waste Regulations; and a full description of the Sarbanes-Oxley Actwhich impacts so many business enterprises.
As noted, these databases are regularly updated with information gleaned from news items appearing in the Redemtech regulatory compliance news edition. Items contained in the databases represent the most reliable and recent data to be found on the Internet from a variety of resources, presented in a format that makes it easy for business leaders associated with our industry to understand.
It is Redemtech’s belief that access to this type of information, as well as that presented in all of the company’s news editions covering e-waste, data security, corporate social responsibility and, of course, regulatory issues, will help customers to know what they need to comply with various local, state, national and international laws and avoid unnecessary complications.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse, any law enforcement official who pulls a driver over for speeding will contend, and the English philosopher Sir Frances Bacon’s words still ring true – “Knowledge is Power.” The more people can learn about their legal obligations and comply with ever-changing rules, the better it will be for all businesses.
