A little later in the day, I fell out of a deer stand.

It Pays (Quite Literally) To Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

I was thinking about my home office about a month ago and I realized that I could convert a small guesthouse into a new home office. Admittedly, I’ve wanted to move it out of the main house for some time now.

So not thinking about it any further, I began moving my equipment and furniture into the former guest space. The first day in my new office, I started thinking about how to improve it. I considered many options, but the one that stood out the most was going off-grid. Having an energy-reliant office is something I thought was well overdue. So I began doing some research and realized that the price of solar panels have come down considerably. I also live in a wind belt, where prevailing winds arrive like clockwork, therefore a wind generation made sense, as well.

Cultivating the Stakeholder Value Tree

Holistic enterprise value—really superior returns from an asset management and IT asset disposition program—depend upon including a number of key stakeholders in the process. Last Monday, Nov. 9, Redemtech presented “Cultivating the Stakeholder Value Tree” to an audience at the Gartner IT Finance, Procurement and Asset Management Summit in Orlando. Included was a case study on using philanthropy as a disposition strategy, including material presented by Habitat for Humanity International.

Shrinking Attendance at Gartner Conference Disappointing

At a time when organizations need to find ways to reduce cost, it’s a little disappointing to see that the attendance for the annual Gartner IT Financial, Procurement & Asset Management Summit is shrinking, along with the number of vendors on the trade show floor.

My Father’s Legacy

The year now quickly coming to an end has been a bittersweet one for me.

On the one hand, it’s been heartening to see how we’ve been able to weather the challenging economic environment of the last 18 months and remain a thriving company, one especially well-positioned to become an even stronger force in the industry as things now improve. But on the other hand, I also lost my father to cancer recently, which has left me in a wistful state.
