Responsible Businesses Don't Make Sustainability Choices - People Do
Everyone has a responsibility as an inhabitant of the Earth to do his or her part toward protecting and improving the environment. It is our duty, and desire as parents and grandparents, to do the right thing in support of future generations.
Our environmentally friendly practices begin at home, but shouldn't stop there.
Switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs, using canvas instead of plastic bags to carry groceries, separating household waste for recycling and even composting kitchen scraps are suitable first steps.
Making responsible decisions in the workplace has an even greater impact on planetary salvation.
Implementing processes for shredding and recycling of paper, providing containers for recyclables in lunch rooms, minimizing product packaging, using agility lighting to save electricity, supporting remote worker initiatives to reduce the need for commuting, and, of course, implementing eco-friendly programs for the end-of-life retirement of computer technology, are all environmentally responsible business practices.
Yet, companies don’t make choices – people do. Business leaders should be held accountable for implementing business practices that minimize the impact to our environment, not just their companies.
